CIEMAR
The main aim of the Marine Sciences Laboratory (“Laboratório de Ciências do Mar”, CIEMAR) is to develop scientific, teaching and outreach activities towards a better knowledge of the marine environment and for the sustainable use of its resources, namely in the coastal region of Alentejo (SW continental Portugal).

A new scientific paper was recently published on the biology and exploitation of stalked barnacles (Pollicipes pollicipes), after a manipulative experiment carried out in France, Spain and Portugal within the scope of the PERCEBES project - "Tools for the transition to spatial management of coastal resources : the stalked barnacle fishery in SW Europe", developed with the participation of researchers from CIEMAR and members of MARE/ARNET.
